About this work
An ochre two-story house stands at left beside a whitewashed monastery church topped with a dark dome and weather vane, while a pale building closes the scene on the right. Bare trees rise between the structures, and small dark-clad figures cross a foreground of trampled, footprint-marked snow under a flat grey sky.
The palette stays muted, greys, ochres and dull whites laid in broad, textured strokes that read as thick winter light rather than fine detail. Snow is built up with a loaded brush, its surface scored with bristle marks, giving the quiet street a cold, still winter atmosphere.
