About this work
Six vessels of varying shapes and materials are grouped closely together on a white marble-topped shelf: clear glass decanters and a jug, a wicker-wrapped demijohn, and slender ceramic bottles in white and pale pink. They stand shoulder to shoulder against a plain, softly toned green-gray wall, with no other objects in the composition.
The palette stays almost monochrome, built from whites, creams and pale grays with only faint warm and cool undertones distinguishing each object. Light falls softly from the left, tracing crisp highlights along the glass necks and rounded ceramic bodies. Brushwork is smooth and restrained, giving the arrangement a quiet, contemplative, almost sculptural stillness.
