About this work
An empty warehouse or garage bay recedes toward a closed roll-down shutter, its off-white walls hung with exposed conduit and lined on the right with small square windows. A narrow red carpet runs down the center of the bare concrete floor, leading the eye straight to the shutter beneath a lit fluorescent tube.
The palette stays almost monochrome, pale grays and creams, broken only by the saturated red of the carpet. Smooth, even brushwork gives the space a flat, photographic clarity, with soft shadows modeling the walls and ceiling beams. The empty hall and isolated red path, set against the ironic title, produce a quiet, faintly unsettling stillness.
