About this work
A row of illuminated riverside buildings stretches across the composition beneath the dome and lantern of St. Isaac's Cathedral, its silhouette rising against a deep night sky scattered with stars. Below, the dark surface of the river carries faint reflections of the lit windows and the cathedral's glow, with scattered patches suggesting drifting ice near the embankment.
