About this work
Brightly patterned textiles - an orange floral scarf, a swirling blue-and-purple print, and a panel with a red botanical motif - hang draped over the edge of a shelf or mantel. Lined up along the top edge sit an assortment of small glass bottles and decanters in green and blue tones, a metal ewer, a small pale torso figurine, and a paper cone-shaped vessel, all set against a plain grey wall.
The composition favors flat, overlapping planes of saturated color, with the fabrics rendered in bold, simplified shapes reminiscent of decorative pattern-making rather than naturalistic folds. Cool background tones set off the warm reds and oranges of the cloth, while the small objects on the ledge are painted with more descriptive, rounded modeling, giving the whole a playful, pattern-driven energy.
