About this work
A cluster of toy animals - a yellow chick, grey wolf, pink mouse-like creature, blue-eyed toy, piglet, and a large red-eared open-mouthed figure - gathers before a fiery orange expanse, with a black fly toy at lower right and a green frog airborne above, caught mid-leap through drifting smoke.
Hot oranges and blackened browns fill the background in loose, smeared strokes suggesting flame and heat haze, against the smoother modeling of the toy figures in front. Warm light picks out glassy eye highlights across their faces. The crush of startled toy expressions against the blaze gives the scene an urgent, chaotic energy.
