About this work
Intricately patterned gothic arches, textured like woven stone, frame a sunlit view of cypress and orange trees along a rocky coastline, with a tiny angel hovering in the garden below. Set into the lower right is a flattened, Byzantine-style mosaic panel of three crowned kings on horseback beneath a starry sky, while at the very bottom a raised praying hand and a dreaming, closed-eyed face emerge from the stonework.
Gold, cream, and terracotta textures dominate the architectural border, contrasting with the cooler blues and greens of the landscape glimpsed through the arch. The dense, mosaic-like patterning and layered, dreamlike imagery combine real and imagined spaces into a single decorative surface, producing a hushed, visionary atmosphere.
