About this work
A dozen tangerines, several still bearing green leaves and one hanging by its stem below the ledge, are arranged in a single row along a rough wooden beam. The fruit varies slightly in tilt and placement, creating a rhythmic, almost musical procession across the wide horizontal canvas, with one cluster of leafy twigs rising above the rest at the center.
Warm orange and ochre skins are rendered with glossy highlights and tiny dew droplets, set against the cool, undefined gray-beige backdrop and the deep brown grain of the wood. The tight, even lighting and crisp realism give the fruit a tactile, almost sculptural presence, producing a quiet, orderly calm.
