About this work

A cluster of large pale grey boulders lines the near shore of a calm body of water, their rounded forms reflected in the smooth, greenish surface. Smaller dark stones sit half-submerged further out, and beyond them a thin band of sandy beach leads to a low ridge of rubble and scattered vegetation at the horizon.

The palette moves from cool grey and beige stones through soft turquoise-green water to a muted band of pale ochre sand, all rendered in smooth, blended brushwork with soft edges. Diffuse, even light gives the water a still, mirror-like calm and the whole scene a quiet, meditative stillness typical of an overcast shoreline.
