About this work
Three white birch trunks stand at the edge of a wooden table set with a woven basket of peaches, a bowl of apples and pears, scattered plums and tulips, and a tall metal teapot on a folded cloth. Beyond the trees, a lake curves through green forested hills under a pale sky, giving the still life an open-air garden setting.
Cool blue-grey bark contrasts with warm yellow, red and purple fruit, all rendered in short, loaded strokes of thick paint.
