About this work
Two nearly black canvases hang side by side. The left panel is empty darkness except for a small square window frame glowing warm amber in the lower corner. The right panel shows a barely lit ledge or tabletop holding a red book-like object beside rounded dark forms that emerge, half-legible, from the surrounding gloom.
Both panels are built almost entirely from near-black paint, with only thin slivers of warm light breaking the surface. The restrained, minimal handling and near-total absence of visible detail create a brooding, withheld mood, leaving much of each scene deliberately unresolved.
