About this work
A dim, arched interior stretches from the viewer toward a bright doorway at the far end, its walls softened to pale teal-white by unseen light. High on the back wall, small and isolated, a narrow window glows a warm reddish-orange, the only note of color in an otherwise dark, cave-like passage.
Thick, scraped brushwork models the rough walls in near-black umbers and greens, while the far archway is built up in chalky, textured strokes of white and pale turquoise. The single glowing window creates a quiet, mysterious pull upward, evoking the hush of an old stone building at night.
