About this work
A bearded old man in a dark vest and cap kneels over a sheep laid on a cloth, working hand shears through its fleece. Behind him a young boy in green cradles a large sheared fleece in his arms, and a woven basket for the wool sits at the shearer's side. A crowded flock of sheep presses in from both sides inside a rough timber barn.
