About this work

A stone bridge with snow-topped parapets spans a frozen canal in the blue dusk, leading toward a row of riverside buildings. A tall streetlamp glows beside dense, bare-branched trees on the embankment, and a second light source flares faintly further along the quay. One window in the nearest building shows a warm interior light, and dark open water breaks the ice below the bridge.

The scene is painted in muted blue-greys with soft, blended edges, punctuated by small warm notes of lamp and window light. Brushwork is smooth and atmospheric, dissolving distant forms into the twilight haze. The overall effect is hushed and still, a quiet winter evening beside the water.
