About this work
A pale stone bridge with three round arches spans the Tiber, linking a tree-lined bank to a church tower and huddled rooftops on the far shore. Below, a small wooden houseboat is moored beside the near quay, where a few figures stroll along the embankment under tall umbrella pines.
Soft greens, warm ochres and a pale grey-blue sky are laid in with broad, even strokes that keep the architecture solid while the river surface loosens into rippling reflections of the bridge and trees. Even, diffused daylight and a restrained palette give the view a calm, unhurried, provincial mood.
