About this work
A richly dressed woman with a jeweled headband plucks the strings of a large gilded lyre held against her shoulder, her gaze turned pensively to one side. In the lower left corner, faint and pale against ochre ruins and arches, a horse-like animal appears in the middle distance.
Gold, amber and dusty green tones wash over a surface built from dense, engraved-looking texture, the lyre and costume detailed almost like metalwork or embroidery.
