About this work
Two elongated silver-blue fish, their dark backs and pale bellies rendered in sweeping curves, lie coiled around a squat copper jug at the center of the composition. A small cluster of red tomatoes rests at the lower right, all arranged on a red tablecloth against a softly lit grey-beige backdrop.
Warm reds and coppery ochres dominate, set off by the cool silver-white of the fish and the pale neutral background. The paint is applied in loose, confident strokes with visible brush marks that catch light along the fish's flanks and the jug's curved surface.
