About this work

Four pomegranates are arranged in a row along a rough wooden ledge: two whole fruits bookend two halved ones whose broken skins reveal dense clusters of glistening seeds, with a scatter of loose seeds fallen onto the wood below. A deep black background isolates the fruit, throwing full attention onto their forms and color.

Rendered in tight, photographic detail, the reds shift from deep crimson to bright orange-red, with crisp highlights catching the wet seeds and leathery skins. Strong, directional side light models each surface with sharp contrast, giving the still life a glossy, richly saturated intensity.
