About this work
A nude figure is drawn curled tightly into a fetal position, knees drawn to chest and head bowed, rendered entirely in fine graphite hatching. Small black dots are scattered evenly across the body and the surrounding field, interspersed with tiny hand-drawn flowers and clover-like marks in red, blue and yellow. An orange-red patch glows near the figure's midsection against the pale ground.
The background washes from deep red-orange at the top into cool blue-green below, framing the figure in a soft atmospheric glow. Delicate cross-hatching builds volume in the curled body, while the repeated dots read like scattered marks or bruises across the skin. The combination of tender drawing and wounded, huddled posture gives the piece a quiet, aching sorrow.
