About this work
A weathered apartment building is shown in tight close-up, with six tall windows stacked across three floors, a wrought-iron balcony above a doorway hung with potted flowers, and a satellite dish bolted beside an upper window. A vertical drainpipe runs the full height of the wall, and a black-and-white checkerboard tile insert breaks the plaster in the upper left corner.
Salmon-pink stucco has flaked away in jagged patches to expose ochre brick beneath, built up with thick, cracked impasto that mimics real plaster damage. Muted blue-grey window glass and rusted ironwork sit against the warm ground, giving the wall a faded, lived-in quality that reads as a portrait of an aging building rather than a picturesque view.
