About this work

A pale, light-filled path recedes into the distance between two overgrown banks of tangled branches, brambles and dry grasses. The thicket presses in from both sides, its thin dark stems and twigs crossing in dense, scratchy tangles, while a hazy pale clearing glows faintly at the vanishing point.

Muted greys, browns and touches of deep maroon are worked with fine, nervous lines scratched and dragged through the paint, creating a dense linear texture like thorns and dry twigs. The high contrast between the dark thicket and the luminous path gives the scene a tense, mysterious atmosphere.
