About this work
Two women dressed in identical navy work jackets with orange high-visibility panels and reflective stripes stand side by side in a bare interior corner. One holds a folded white cloth in her clasped hands, the other leans slightly toward her companion, both with tired, thoughtful expressions turned to the side. An open window to the right lets in cool daylight, and a patterned tile floor extends beneath their feet.
The composition is dominated by a mottled teal-green wall rendered in loose, scumbled layers that contrast with the flat saturated orange of the jackets. Light enters from the window, catching the fabric folds and faces while leaving the lower half of the room in shadow. Careful, academic modeling of the figures combines with painterly background texture to create a quiet, contemplative genre scene.
