About this work
A graphite drawing is collaged onto a large abstract ground: a dark hooded figure stands beside a bent, half-nude man in blue briefs pressing his head against an orange disc above his shoulder. Below, turquoise paint pools over a torn strip of printed paper bearing a fragment of lettering, and a narrow grey column runs down the left edge.
Raw, unmixed color dominates the surrounding field — acid green, tangerine and rust-red dragged on in wide strokes with drips bleeding past the collage's edges. Pink marker lines score the top of the sheet and loose charcoal hatching gives the figures a nervous, sketch-like quality. The clash between the controlled drawing and the aggressive color field produces a restless, confrontational mood.
