About this work
A male figure stands with his back to the viewer, both arms bent and crossed behind his head, weight shifted onto his right leg so the hip and shoulder line tilt in counterbalance. The pose is a full academic figure study, showing the back, buttocks, and legs from head to feet, rendered on toned paper with an inscription and instructor's name in the lower corner.
Modeled in graphite, the drawing builds form through cross-hatched shading and soft blending, with a darker cast shadow behind the figure reinforcing volume.
