About this work

Behind them a loosely sketched drapery hangs against a bare wall, and a tiled floor is indicated beneath the two figures.
Rendered entirely in warm sepia and charcoal-grey tones on toned paper, the drawing builds form through soft rubbed shading and sharper accents in the hands, faces and folds of clothing.
