About this work
Three or more pillows are stacked diagonally in close-up, their cases rumpled and pressed against one another so that folds overlap and tuck into deep creases. The uppermost pillow catches the brightest light while the ones beneath sink into shadow. Set against a plain, softly toned wall, the stack fills nearly the entire canvas.
The palette is a narrow range of grays and off-whites, with light falling evenly to model each pillow's rounded volume. Brushwork is smooth and carefully blended, giving the fabric a soft, almost tactile weight. The composition's calm, restrained repetition of form creates a settled, quiet mood.
