In Bagnoregio after the rain

Warm ochre and gold dominate the sunlit facades, built up with thick palette-knife impasto that gives the rock face a rugged, textured surface, while cooler blue-grey tones model the sky and shadowed ravine. Loose, energetic brushwork and raking light create a dramatic, weather-beaten atmosphere, as if the stone were still damp from rain.
