About this work
A long, horn-shaped bronze bowl dominates the composition, heaped with grapes, pomegranates and other fruit. A tall metal pitcher stands at left and two dark wine bottles at right, while loose pomegranates and a lemon slice lie scattered on the cloth in front.
Muted lavenders, ochres and sage greens fill the patchwork ground, each panel textured like embossed fabric or crackled paint. The fruit and vessels are picked out in warmer rust and gold tones, giving the still life a quiet, orderly calm despite its dense, tapestry-like surface.
