About this work
A large round green glass bottle stands on an orange paisley-patterned cloth, its neck tied with a red ribbon and topped by a small grey hare figurine carrying an open dark parasol on a stick. Behind the bottle hangs a yellow-and-orange polka-dot fabric backdrop; in front, a ripe lemon and a pair of dark cherries with their stems rest on the draped orange cloth at the table's edge.
Warm oranges and yellows dominate the palette, set off by the cool transparent green of the glass, painted with careful attention to reflected light and the distortions seen through its curved surface. Smooth, controlled brushwork and soft directional light give the arrangement a quiet, playful charm centered on the whimsical hare.
