About this work
A row of wicker and birch-bark baskets of varying sizes sits along a pale wooden shelf, filled respectively with golden chanterelle mushrooms, sprigs of yellow wildflowers, a small basket of dark berries, and another of bright red berries. Between the baskets stands a narrow glass jug, and loose mushrooms and flower stems lie scattered on the shelf in front.
The palette is soft and warm, dominated by honeyed yellows and ochres of the mushrooms and baskets against a bleached, neutral wood background, with small accents of red and green for contrast. Light is even and diffused, brushwork smooth and carefully rendered on the woven textures and rounded forms, producing a calm, abundant still life evoking a forest harvest.
