About this work

An old metal pitcher with a curved handle stands on a wooden ledge beside a shallow bowl heaped with pomegranates, tangerines, and an apple. Leafy twigs trail over the edge of the bowl and onto the table, while a single tangerine rests apart on the surface in front.

A muted palette of ochre, rust, and grey-green sets off the metal's cool highlights and the fruit's warm reds and oranges. Loose, confident brushwork and soft, even light give the arrangement a quiet, timeless still-life calm.
