About this work

A narrow stone path leads through a tunnel-like archway formed by trained branches and climbing shrubs studded with pink blossoms. Greenery crowds both sides of the path, opening at the far end onto a brighter clearing with a wooden fence and distant trees. No figures appear; the composition is built entirely around the passage of light through the leafy tunnel.

Greens dominate in a wide range of values, from deep shadow beneath the arch to bright yellow-green where sunlight breaks through, with soft pink and blue accents in the blossoms and sky. Brushwork is loose and blended, with patches of light scattered across the path like broken sunlight. The effect is calm and inviting, a quiet, sun-warmed garden passage.
