About this work
A dark round loaf rests on a diamond-folded cloth at the center of a wooden table, with a bronze chalice of dark red wine placed just below it. Around this focal pair, glasses and stemmed goblets of varied shapes stand in mirrored groups at each corner, several still holding traces of red wine.
The layout has an almost ritual symmetry, warm browns and muted greys of wood set against pale linens and the glint of glass. Light falls evenly and brushwork stays smooth and controlled, so the repeated vessels of wine read like an offering. The mood is hushed and reverent, closer to a quiet devotional rite than an ordinary meal.
