Evening at the Summer garden

A tall white marble statue of a partly draped female figure stands atop a pedestal, one arm raised, against slender leafless trees. To the left, a second statue stands on its own pedestal, with stone piers lining a distant balustrade beyond the grass. Fallen leaves carpet the ground, and a low hedge fills the corner.

Cool blue and violet tones dominate the dusky sky and shadowed grass, set against warm ochre in the fallen leaves underfoot. The pale statues glow softly against the darker trees, their marble catching the last evening light. Loose, textured brushwork lends the scene a hushed, melancholic stillness as the garden empties out at day's end.
