About this work
Three jugs of different sizes and colors -- one in lilac with a blue neck and an orange-red band, one in deep blue with a curved handle, and a taller pale grey vessel -- stand on a light ledge on either side of a tall, thin tree. The tree's dark maroon, rounded crown rises against a soft grey-blue sky, with a low band of brown hills marking the horizon behind the jugs.
Forms are simplified to flat, smoothly blended color shapes with soft edges, giving the jugs and tree a quiet, almost stage-like presence against the muted twilight palette. The restrained range of dusty blues, browns and violets, along with low, even light, creates a calm, still evening mood.
