About this work
Two boys wearing swimming goggles are submerged to the shoulders in a pond, heads bent close together as one holds a small object cupped in his palm for the other to inspect. Around them the water's surface is broken by other swimmers' knees and a raised bare foot, while a dragonfly hovers just above the waterline.
Warm amber and gold dominate the rippling water, set against the pale, sunlit skin of the swimmers and bright white foam where the surface breaks. Loose, fluid brushstrokes trace the concentric ripples, and the close cropping and shimmering reflections create an intimate, playful summer mood.
