About this work

One arm appears raised close to the head beneath the drape, while the cloth falls in heavy, twisting folds down to the floor, leaving no skin exposed and no facial features visible.
Rendered entirely in charcoal, the piece relies on a single raking light source that models the fabric in stark greys against the void of the paper's black ground.
