About this work
A multi-story building facade fills the frame, its ground level punctured by two dark open doorways and a narrow window. Above, weathered plaster is patched with rectangular panels of mustard yellow, teal blue, sage green and pale pink arranged in an irregular grid, while a flat band of deep ultramarine crosses the very bottom of the composition like water or tiled ground.
The palette is built from earthy ochre and raw sienna grounds interrupted by chalky inserted color blocks, painted in thick, scraped strokes that read as flaking stucco and old repainted patches. The flattened, grid-like composition turns architectural decay into near-abstract pattern, producing a quiet, melancholic sense of abandonment.
