About this work

A clear glass vase crowded with yellow coreopsis blooms, blue cornflowers and small white daisies stands on a wooden table edge, its stems visible through the glass. The vase rests on a folded red-and-white embroidered cloth, with a few loose flower stems scattered beside it. Behind the table a flat field and tree line stretch under an open sky.

The bouquet is painted with bright, saturated yellows and blues set against the softer greens and golds of the landscape beyond. Light falls evenly across the petals and glass, picked out with small dabs of white highlight, while the embroidered cloth is rendered in careful decorative detail. The overall effect is fresh, sunlit and cheerful, typical of a flower still life.
