About this work
A park playground with red, blue and yellow climbing frames, slides and swing sets is set among dense, dark green trees. A woman walks along the path beside a small child, while in the foreground two children's faces are sketched close up, looking out at the viewer. The scene is loosely blocked in with washes rather than tightly finished detail.
Foliage is built from layered washes of green and near-black, with the play equipment picked out in bright, flat primary colors against the shadowed trees. Line and wash combine loosely, quick ink marks defining figures and structure while color is laid in broad, transparent strokes, giving the sheet the freshness of a rapid on-site study.
