About this work

A pewter pitcher with a curved spout stands beside a slender white ceramic bottle, a tall dark bottle with a paper label, and a rounder olive-green glass jar, all grouped on a plain tabletop. Two small onions rest in front of the vessels, with hints of grape-like clusters glimpsed behind the tallest bottle, against a mottled ochre-and-sage wall.

The still life is painted in warm earth tones - amber, cream, and near-black - built up with visible, textured brushstrokes on the wall and smoother handling on the bottles' reflective surfaces. Soft directional light picks out highlights on the glass and metal, giving the grouping a quiet, traditional stillness.
