About this work
A steep-roofed building with a tall, slender spire rises at the center of a hazy townscape, flanked by lower rooftops and indistinct structures fading into a pale sky. A dark foreground band, possibly water or shadowed ground, stretches across the base of the composition.
Soft, blended strokes of blue-grey, warm ochre and pale rose merge sky and architecture into a single luminous haze, with only the spire and roofline held in slightly firmer touches. The diffused, glowing light and restrained palette evoke the hush of dusk settling over the town.
