About this work
Several branches of a blueberry shrub fan out from a common base, their small oval leaves ranging from fresh green to blue-grey and rust-red, with clusters of round blue-black berries along the stems. No pot, table or setting is shown; the plant stands alone against bare cream paper.
Light, transparent washes with the paper left bare for highlights build the sprays, fine stems drawn in dry line over the color. Overlapping veils of green, blue and rust suggest depth and seasonal change, giving the study a quiet, close intimacy.
