About this work
A weeping willow with cascading branches stands at the water's edge on the right, balanced by rounded, dark tree masses on the left. Between them a still pond mirrors the trees and pale sky in near-symmetry, while a soft glow spreads along the horizon where the trees part.
The palette moves from pale green sky through soft pink cloud streaks to deep green-black foliage, the willow rendered fresher and lighter than the darker trees opposite. Light stays soft and diffuse, warming only at the horizon glow, and the smooth, still water gives the whole scene a calm, softly luminous feel of first light.
