About this work
Three heavily built workmen climb and balance on a large wooden A-frame ladder, gripping tools, a paint roller and a drill, while a woman in a green dress stands centered between the ladder's legs, resting her chin on her hand and holding a small brown dog. She wears bright yellow heels and carries a dark handbag, her poised figure at odds with the strenuous labor going on around her.
Soft, chalky lavender-grey tones wash over exaggeratedly muscular limbs and enlarged hands and feet, giving the figures a monumental, sculptural weight.
