About this work
Thick clusters of palm fronds, broad banana-like leaves, and feathery greenery crowd the foreground, with patches of pink and magenta blossoms breaking through on the lower left. Behind the foliage, a pale, hazy form and a dark hillside silhouette are faintly visible through the mist, while a soft pastel sky closes the composition at the top.
Vivid greens in many values are applied with a loaded palette knife and brush, leaving thick ridges and slashes of paint that give the leaves a tactile, almost sculptural presence. Warm pinks and cool greys punctuate the dominant green, and the loose, gestural handling creates a vibrant, sun-dappled sense of overgrown jungle light.
