About this work
A seated, faceless figure is shrouded in a sheet of crumpled, translucent plastic or glass, its folds catching sharp highlights across a bowed head and hunched shoulders. The figure sits within the thin outlined edges of a box or vitrine, as if displayed inside a museum case. To the left, a row of tall glass or plastic tubes lean together; to the right, small dark bottles and a round object rest on the case floor.
The entire scene is rendered in stark black, white, and grey, with the plastic wrapping picked out in crisp white strokes against deep black shadow. Sharp value contrasts and angular folds give the draped material a hard, crystalline quality, while the surrounding objects stay simple and dark. The effect is austere and enigmatic, like an object in storage rather than on view.
