About this work
A low horizon of green and yellow grassland stretches beneath a wide sky filled with large, tumbling white clouds. A single dark cluster of trees breaks the flat line of the field on the left, and loose brushstrokes of grass suggest the field bending under a strong wind.
Painted quickly in blue, white and yellow-green with loose, energetic strokes, the clouds are built up in thick swirling dabs while the grass below is scored with short directional marks. The overall handling is loose and impressionistic, capturing the movement of wind and light in a brief open-air study.
